Women’s REALISTIC Self Defence
Unlike most self-defence course available for Women, these specialized workshops do not solely focus on the physical side of self-defence.
The largest form of abuse in today’s society is emotional, not physical. It is the emotional reaction and scars that in most cases last the longest. Shoto-Chi is an art that specializes in the realistic approach to conflict resolution. It does so through the understanding of human behaviour. It is the signals we emit that determine the outcome. Simply put it is “cause and effect”.
By learning how to emit the right signal and understanding signals in others and our surroundings, the possibility of even being assaulted to begin with is dramatically reduced. Studies have indicated that 55% of communication is the non-verbal signals we emit (Body Language), 38% is how we emit the verbal side of communication and only 7% of communication is the actual words that we speak.
There is still the obvious need for learning how to defend ourselves in a physical encounter. These workshops are taught from a realistic angle and target specific triggers within those who participate.
The workshops vary in duration and focus on areas such as: Control of Personal Space, Verbal Communication Techniques, Body Language, Personal Security, Conflict Psychology, Applied Self-Defence Dynamics, Self-Confidence & Awareness, Personal Well-Being and Emotional Constraint.
I’m looking for a class that is a few hours in length for one day only for myself and my 16-year-old daughter (mostly for her) to teach her self defense techniques. Do you have such a class? If so, what is the cost? When? Where?
Thank you,
Geraldine

Hi Geraldine,
The workshops that are run for the Women’s Realistic Self Defence are typically 3 hours however of late they have been running as 2 hour sessions each month. Please go to the following link for the special meet up group. http://www.meetup.com/Womens-REALISTIC-Self-Defence. I do suggest that people looking to learn self defence do so as an on going program. To teach self defence in one session and claim that it will work can be extremely dangerous. Hopefully you live in the area of the meet up group and can attend our next meeting this Sunday. Please join the group and I look forward too hearing from you soon – Master Rob Norton.
